Moving company advertising works best when Google Search reaches people who are already looking for a mover, and TV, Facebook, Instagram and Reddit keep your name familiar before the busy May to September season. Adwave runs that mix from one daily budget that starts at $30, and it makes the ads from your website.

How moving companies get customers

Most moving jobs begin with a search. Someone who types “movers near me” or “3-bedroom house movers” plus a city name already has a date and a problem to solve. Elromco’s 2026 budget guide for movers calls Google Ads “the most reliable paid channel” for moving companies for this reason. Searchers who see your ad don’t book right away; they still compare reviews, check your website, and request two or three quotes before deciding. Many customers also arrive through referrals, especially from realtors who send clients who are buying or selling a home.

Paid ads support each of those paths. Search ads put you in front of the person comparing quotes today. Video and social ads make your name familiar earlier, so when a homeowner lists a house or signs a lease, your company is one they already recognize. Familiarity also helps your search ad and your reviews win the click when it matters.

A local mover gains nothing from impressions 300 miles away, so every campaign should match your real service area. Long-distance movers have a harder targeting job, because the customer is leaving one place for another. For most companies, the origin market (where the household and the truck start) is the place to advertise. Our page on Adwave for moving and storage businesses covers how this applies to movers specifically.

Which ad channels fit a moving company

Each channel does one of two jobs. It either captures demand from people who are already planning a move, or it builds recognition before they start looking. A small mover usually needs both, weighted toward search during the season.

Channel Main job When it fits Creative that works Limits
Google Search Capture intent Year-round, heaviest in peak season Service area, move type, free quote offer, phone number Competitive keywords get expensive. It only reaches people already searching
TV / streaming TV Build recognition Spring lead-in and peak months in your market Short spot with your real crew and trucks, plus a clear call to get a quote No direct click. Results show up as more searches and calls over time
Facebook and Instagram Recognition and retargeting Before and during peak season Crew-at-work video, packing tips, an off-season discount Fewer people are ready to book right now than on search
Reddit Reach people in local communities Cities with active local subreddits, college towns Plain, helpful ads with local references Starts above the minimum budget. Audience size varies by city
Mobile web and apps Repeat exposure at low cost Alongside the other channels Simple image ad with your name and offer Low intent. Works best as support for search and TV

Use real footage of your own crew and trucks wherever you can. Moving is a trust purchase, and stock imagery makes a company look like a lead broker. See our guide to TV ads for moving companies, and for other trades, our overview of TV advertising for home services.

Adwave buys media on these channels without asking you to open separate ad accounts. According to the Adwave FAQ, ads on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit run on connected accounts that Adwave owns, and Adwave sets up a Google Ads account for your workspace. Your budget, audience, creative and content eligibility determine which channels can run.

Realistic budgets from $30 a day

Adwave pricing runs on a single daily budget, from $30 up to $10,000. There’s no subscription and no contract. That budget covers media and ads, along with the work of managing the campaign. The minimum doesn’t unlock every channel, so here is what each level opens:

  • TV, Google (Search included), Facebook and Instagram run from the $30/day minimum.
  • Reddit needs a daily budget above the $30 minimum.
  • TikTok is live and opt-in from about $91/day. You turn it on and connect a TikTok account.

As a planning example, $75 a day for 30 active days comes to $2,250. You can pause before 30 days are up, and you are charged only for what runs. Campaign creative is included. If you want more ads beyond the included set, extra creation is priced per item: $0.38 per image, $6 per social video, $6 per 15-second TV spot and $12 per 30-second TV spot. Card deposits add the processing fee shown at checkout, and ACH deposits have no added fee.

Search costs explain why many movers don’t put everything into keywords. Elromco’s guide reports that in competitive markets, cost per click for moving keywords can exceed $20, and cost per lead can reach $50 to $80. At those prices, a $30 day can buy only a few search clicks. That’s a good reason to let search handle the ready-to-book searchers and let cheaper reach on TV and social build the name recognition that improves those clicks. Timing ads around peak moving season

Demand in this business follows the calendar. moveBuddha’s peak season guide says peak moving season runs from May through September. The busiest stretch falls in summer, and 41% of annual U.S. moves happen between May and August.

Booking windows set when to start spending. moveBuddha advises customers to book local movers four to eight weeks ahead and long-distance movers eight to 12 weeks ahead. A June move is often decided in April or early May, so awareness campaigns should be running in spring, before your competitors’ search bids climb. All My Sons Moving & Storage, writing about its 2024 moves, notes that movers offer their best deals in the off-peak months of September through April. That makes the off-season the time for promotions that keep crews busy, such as midweek discounts or packing add-ons.

When your trucks are fully booked, scale back: lower the daily budget or pause the campaign until capacity opens up. In Adwave, pausing stops future daily charges, and a new daily budget on a live campaign applies the same day if your wallet covers it. Storage businesses follow a similar curve, which our guide to advertising a self-storage facility covers. Other seasonal trades plan the same way, as described in our piece on how HVAC companies plan seasonal ads.

Advertising rules that apply to movers

Interstate household goods movers fall under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). FMCSA’s consumer guidance on what a mover must provide includes a section on the items that must appear in a mover’s advertisements. If your company handles interstate moves, read that section before you write any ad copy and check your claims against it.

The same rules cover what happens after the ad. FMCSA’s household goods consumer protection rule requires movers to give prospective customers five documents before a contract:

That rule states that violations bring civil penalties of at least $500 per day per violation. FMCSA’s Protect Your Move resources also warn consumers about moving fraud and the red flags of dishonest movers. Your ads compete against that backdrop, so a vague “cheapest movers” claim can hurt you more than it helps.

Ad platforms add their own layer. Google’s advertising policies require advertisers to follow all applicable laws where they operate and where their ads show, and Google may block ads or suspend advertisers that don’t. Local, in-state moves are often regulated by the state instead of FMCSA, so check your state’s rules too. In every ad, make sure the quoted prices, “free estimate” offers and license details match what your crew will actually deliver.

Setting up a moving campaign in Adwave

  1. Paste your website. Adwave reads your site for offers and photos, then suggests customer profiles to reach. If you don’t have a website, you can describe the business by hand, but the campaign still needs a destination such as a quote form or booking page.
  2. Review your audience and ads. Preview the image ads, social video and TV spot, then edit them or upload finished ads. You don’t need a card for this step.
  3. Set your area. Target a radius, ZIP codes or a city that matches the area you actually serve. For a long-distance mover, this is usually the origin market.
  4. Choose a daily budget. Start at $30 or higher, depending on which channels you want. Remember that Reddit needs more than the minimum and TikTok starts at about $91/day.
  5. Fund the prepaid wallet and launch. New accounts start with an empty wallet, and a campaign pauses if the wallet can’t cover the day. Auto-refill is optional.
  6. Track quote requests and calls. Install the tracking snippet, set the actions you want to count (such as quote form submissions), and give them a value if you want revenue reporting.
